A sovereign Palestinian state: the accolades are uncounted but…
A considerations that is not merely academic because geopolitics is not the only thing we need to pay attention to.
For what I am proposing here, I have taken my cue from a news story that the mainstream press has been very careful not to consider, which verbatim reads: “Disturbing new details have emerged regarding the conditions in which Avinatan Or was held hostage by the jihadist terrorist organization of Hamas.
He was confined to a cage with a height of only 1.8 meters. He remained in the cage for the entire duration, and for most of that time, he was handcuffed to the bars of the cage and was alone”.
The worst thing I want to emphasize is not even the conditions that characterized his detention and its duration, but the reason why he had to face all this: not a crime, not a fault, but only the fact of being Jewish!
This is something that no one in the world, no human being can accept and justify, and which in itself deserves the rejection of any excuse and understanding!
This fact alone makes those who conceived and carried out all this, as well as all those who approved it and are now marching and protesting around the world, spending even a single word to say that what Hamas has done must be understood because… blah blah blah… are simply poor idiots, and Hamas is a criminal organization that has no right to obtain recognition by the international community as a sovereign state for the land it governs.
Some will say that there are many countries that should not be recognized as states governed by the rule of law, but we have to start somewhere to put an end to the legitimization of something that has lasted for millennia because the time has come to draw a line, to establish a watershed that no distinction or exception should be able to remove.
This is despite the fact that I know perfectly well, thanks in part to my work, that in the end pragmatism and so-called realpolitik will prevail over all this, except for once a year when a new anniversary is established for the sole purpose of clearing our conscience and giving the victims the hypocritical visibility and remembrance that we know so well.
I say this because this total lack of respect is what will make this hostage’s detention something that will never end for him, and those who do not understand and reject this are not only no better than the Hamas captors who detained him, but are themselves his captors.
Virtually no one has spoken about this, and least of all -mostly- there have been those who have questioned it given that when it has somehow been done, the whole thing has taken on, at best, the exceedingly, before even questionable, illogical position of that Marco Travaglio who on September 25, 2025, thought to support the call for a prompt recognition of the Palestinian state by absurdly wishing for its non-subordination to the release of all hostages by Hamas, as well as the exclusion of Hamas from the political life of the new state.
So much so having deemed it sufficient to have pointed out that that Hamas, which in the beginning had played a political role even in the West Bank, was currently, after October 7, no longer considered a expendable political interlocutor either by the Arab world or by the international community, thereby proving that he did not even realize that the first problem to be solved concerned identifying which state entity he was talking about in order to invoke its recognition.
This deserves all our attention since it is not given to understand why, given the river of words that has flooded and continues to flood urbi et orbi media thanks to the frenzied activism of the editors and deputy editors of the most various and varied newspapers -with the usual rare due exceptions- , all in more or less various capacities engaged in competing to circulate a little naively that cheap propaganda which at most boosts circulation and share, and perhaps acts as a flywheel for the sales of the last-minute populist book by the Travaglio on duty, who if he cannot be accused of opportunistically conforming to the narrative of the squares, it is only because he moves parallel to them by being ‘square’ himself.
Thus in Italy, as abroad, countless are the examples of publications, essays and editorials written, edited and published not to ‘understand and make understood,’ but to put in fine print the personal populist bias (always and in any case by taken party made his own) against the constituted power as such, and this regardless of everything else, embracing that pseudo logic that when put into the field using not a pen but an assault rifle, gives birth to the emblematic figure who passes for a militiaman or guerrilla in the century: a way of experiencing journalism more as a craft than a profession.
Emblematic, in this sense, are all the more certain stances decidedly in favor of Albanese: a legitimate position, but one that is deontologically, morally, intellectually and above all logically acceptable only after verifying who Albanese is and what her motives are given her extremism.
In this sense, I do not begrudge Director Travaglio, and those in his position who have intended not to act in accordance with the inspiring principles of this methodological call, if I feel that I cannot refrain from pointing out that such a modus operandi gives rise in many cases to the unflattering doubt that certain statements, stigmatizations and stances have been made, operated and taken only after mostly ascertaining what the masses aprioristically believe must be the real truth thanks to a well-calibrated propaganda campaign prepared ad hoc -and in good time- by those who have been behind all this from the beginning.
For, in fact, Hamas would never have attacked if it had not had the more or less surreptitious green light from those (and it has certainly not been Iran) who have pulled the strings of the current complex geopolitical game, and for sum of the “Palestinian question” for decades have made good use of it to carry on their war, strictly cognitive and hybrid ante litteram, on that West now led by a Trump who it is not given to understand what he is currently strutting about given yet another foreign policy own goal.
The least pleasant fact in all this is to observe the almost total absence of any doubt whatsoever, that is, of that fundamental stimulating factor of verifying the correctness and consequent congruity of one’s convictions, especially when these have been nourished by the news that has come and been certified by only one of the parties involved, in this case Hamas.
Perhaps, in this regard, it would not hurt to recall certain dynamics that led to the triggering of certain wars, i.e., entering them: one thinks of the narrative that surrounded the Lusitania affair, the Gulf of Tonkino incident, the Pearl Harbor attack, of the narrative that caused only the Germans to sit in the dock at Nuremberg and everyone else to wear the robes of indignant accusers, i.e., the pathetic and stale narrative that still helps to keep alive the myth of a good Italian who, like Capt. Corelli plays the mandolin, or perhaps to that which has given unworthy support to the decades-long denialism concerning the Foibe and the anti-fascist myths cherished by that Pesce who in his time spoke, never refuted, of “a people in the bush” when he somehow took to discussing the alleged choral anti-fascism of Italy in the years from 1943 to 1945, …
All these facts which, on closer inspection, should be enough to induce anyone to prudence, avoiding tearing off their robes too easily like so many Caiaphas in the Sanhedrin, assuming the saccharine tones of those who, strong in self-referential certainty as to their own knowledge, fail to realize a small detail: how come so much indignation and so much pro-Gazawi participation has not been, is not and will not be there for the more than 20 conflicts in Africa alone?
Conflicts that cost 2,000.000 a year in human lives, mostly of women, old men and children who for certain are no less innocent than those in Gaza, but about whom no one strangely speaks … just as it does not speak of the bloody repression of any dissent enacted in these days by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and still it does not speak of the false humanitarianism of a Global Sumud Flotilla in whose purpose was never to bring humanitarian relief to Gazawi, but to provoke that IDF reaction useful to reinforce the credence given to the thesis of a Hamas that exaggerates its reaction because of the genocidal mentality of Israel as such, as well as of every Jew in the world …
And so let’s be indignant and protest, but let’s try to really document ourselves and avoid still being fools who talk in school about the French Revolution as a popular movement, when in reality it was stimulated by that bourgeoisie that only aspired to replace in clerical-aristocratic duopoly with a new clerical-aristocratic-bourgeois order for the realization of which involved the people who only were used as mere masses of maneuver and nothing more, that is, who on the subject of the Republic still discuss ex-cathedra citing the Athenian model, as to their cultural-historical roots, only because they do not know -and no one tells them- that Athenian democracy was democracy for the few, that is, a democracy for the few and not by universal suffrage, to the extent that perhaps more democratic was Sparta, which did not provide for differences among citizens as to their worth as individuals charged with the defense of the integrity of the state, as well as the duty of women to active participation in this defense and the right to receive an education equal to that of men.
So much so since I believe the time has come to divest themselves of the shoes of yet another puppet of the moment, and such contribute to making that mass of the poor in spirit who are variously filling the squares saturating the air with their pro-Palestinian slogans of which they know little, understand less and are even less informed by the too many rhetoricians of a printed paper who out of ignorance and prejudices worthy of the best cause operate as dhimmi of a Hamas in turn a mere pawn in a game that right now very little manages and even less understands
Propaganda has been around for a long time, and the propaganda of war always tends to divide the world into the very good and the very bad. This is permissible, but to continue to fall for it a little less, especially in an age like this where the media allow certain verifications that few do and most reject because to truly inform oneself costs effort and effort. Gaza is a dirty business and should rightly be stigmatized , as long as we do not make ‘the good guys’ those who have responsibilities galore and must be eradicated as dutifully must be done of a cancer that afflicts a body certainly healthier without it.
Mine, let me be clear , is not apologia for anything but only logic.
Incidentally: but would there really have been so much recognition of the Palestinian state if the depths of the Mediterranean Orientaie did not have all the good stuff there? I doubt it!
Rhetoric? Perhaps, but: how many went to the streets for the massacres that took place at the time of the Hutu-Tutzi clashes? How come no one went?
To my dear colleagues active in the field of information, I would like to leave some food for thought as to doubt, reminding them that doubt is not a fault that requires the stigmatization and censorship of those who manifest it by branding them as “denialists” (secular version of the word “unbeliever,” or “apostate” in the religious sphere) but an indispensable tool of work!
And in this sense here is the homework to be done with care and dutiful diligence: on October 16, 2025, an article appeared in Libero entitled “Hamas, the bead in Italy: they want to shed blood, wiretaps.”
In it in the opening it reads the following:
“Hamas is already among us. With an armed network, organized and ready to strike. “We have people in Italy and let’s see how we can help people from here,” wrote the Palestinian terrorist organization’s head of external operations,Khalil Al-Kharraz, intercepted by German intelligence in 2020. He was talking about his Lebanese agents, brothers Ibrahim and Hassaim El Rassatmi, who were responsible for assisting Hamas men trying to move to Europe from Lebanon.”
Now the question is, if by any chance this news was not Zionist propaganda, if it was not blatant capitalist garbage spread by the genocides you claim to fight, if it were all true what would be the consequences in Europe and Italy?
And then by all means reject it, but do so with reason and in the interest of all, Gazawi included.
